Call for donations: Support Ukrainian publishing

Editorial meetings during air raids, a book launch in a bomb shelter: The ongoing war in Ukraine has turned unimaginable scenes into reality. In order to support members of the Ukrainian book industry, Frankfurter Buchmesse, together with its partners, has started several support initiatives. Frankfurter Buchmesse is showcasing Ukrainian books at book fairs worldwide and offers the organisers of the Ukrainian national stand a free stand at this year's book fair to give the Ukrainian book industry global visibility. Together with the Börsenverein group and the Ukrainian Publishers and Booksellers Association, Frankfurter Buchmesse has launched a fundraising project to help Ukrainian members of the publishing industry, such as authors, publishers and booksellers, in acute need. All donations are welcome and can be made via PayPal to ukraine-toloka@boev.de.

Book Fair & International Congress

German Stories in Abu Dhabi

With 400 square metres of stand space, 34 publishing houses and 10 authors, Germany will be the Guest of Honour at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair from 23 to 29 May 2022. The cultural programme entitled "GERMAN STORIES" will focus on the themes of Inspiration, Soccer, Translation and (Un)certainties. In the "Futurelab", children and young people are invited to take part in creative workshops; forward-looking trends in the book industry and other industries are also discussed under this motto. The extensive specialist programme at the German stand takes up topics relevant to the Arab market in order to promote the exchange of German or German-language publishers with potential business partners in the Arab world.
This is also the aim of the International Congress of Arabic Publishing and Creative Industries organised by ADIBF, which will enable discussions between publishers, writers and content creators, thought leaders and entrepreneurs on the day before the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, on 22 May 2022. The congress will feature the latest trends in publishing, with a strong focus on adapting books for other formats.
