Early Bird rates for exhibitors until the end of January
|
| Be part of the fair in its anniversary year! Registration for the 75th Frankfurter Buchmesse (18-22 October 2023) is underway and the early bird rates for system stands, self-build spaces, workstations and the Literary Agents & Scouts Centre (LitAg) are still valid until 31 January. The official registration deadline is 31 March.

"Translators' names must be on the cover"
|
| The ten participants of this year's Goldschmidt Programme for young literary translators from Germany, France and Switzerland have been selected. This provides a good reason to ask the two mentors, Isabelle Liber and Claudia Hamm, about the general state of literary mediation between the partner countries and about their profession in general. The result was an interview in which they passionately defended the role and profession of translators and clearly advocated for the improvement of working conditions and the recognition of translation services.

| Books at Berlinale: 11 books in the spotlight
|
| From a Ukrainian family saga to a series of devastating stories set in Mexico, and a publication by an author from the fair’s 2023 Guest of Honour, Slovenia: Eleven exceptional titles, with a special potential for literary adaptations and serial formats, will take centre stage at "Books at Berlinale" on 20 February 2023. At the event, organised by the Berlinale Co-Production Market in cooperation with Frankfurter Buchmesse, film and series producers can get in touch with the rights holders from the publishing industry. Literary agents, publishers and film producers are invited to register for the event in Berlin before 14 February.

Meet our team at the German collective stands
|
| New year, new book fair dates worldwide. We are currently packing our bags for the Taipei International Book Exhibition, where we will be represented by a German collective stand from 31 January to 5 February. The next dates are Bologna, London and Buenos Aires. On our website, you can find out at which international industry meetings the Frankfurter Buchmesse team will be personally available for you this year.

| S+T+ARTS Prize: Art meets Technology meets Science
|
| Apply with your project before 3 March 2023: The S+T+ARTS Prize, endowed with €40,000 in prize money, honours annually innovative projects at the nexus of science, technology and the arts. Selected projects will be featured prominently at Frankfurter Buchmesse (18-22 October 2023) and at other events organised by the project partners. Candidates wanted: Peace Prize 2023
|
| The public call for nominations for the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade 2023 is open: Everyone is invited to nominate candidates for the award by 1 March. Since 1950, the Peace Prize has honoured personalities for their services to peace, humanity and understanding between peoples. Among the laureates are Serhij Zhadan (2022), Margaret Atwood (2017), Chinua Achebe (2002) and Astrid Lindgren (1978).

This is how much turnover growth the stationary book trade in Germany achieved in 2022 compared to the previous year. However, the pre-pandemic level has not yet been reached. More current book market figures are available from the German Publishers & Booksellers Association.
