Dear reader,

Advance ticket sales are underway, the exhibitor catalogue is online and the calendar of events for Frankfurter Buchmesse 2022 is also filling up hourly with more readings, trade events and book signings.

Since not all of our events have been announced by a long shot, we will reveal the first trade fair highlights in this newsletter. You will also read about some very prominent names - from the Spanish royal couple, who will open the fair, to numerous international industry giants who will contribute their expertise to the professional programme. And what would Frankfurter Buchmesse be without its prominent writers? Look forward to Abdulrazak Gurnah, Alok Vaid-Menon, Leïla Slimani, Donna Leon and Diane Kruger, among many others.

The thematic agenda is also set: Translation, Children's Books, Audio Content, Diversity, Democracy. For our activity as fair organisers not only to provide exhibition space, but also to set themes relevant to the literary world year after year, the book fair team has recently been awarded the Julius Campe Prize by the German publishing house HOFFMANN UND CAMPE (Ganske Group). The award ceremony will take place at Frankfurter Buchmesse.

Enjoy reading!

Frankfurter Buchmesse to receive Julius Campe Prize

This year, the Julius Campe Prize, awarded by German Publisher HOFFMANN UND CAMPE, will go to Frankfurter Buchmesse. In doing so, the publisher honours Frankfurter Buchmesse for its services to literature. Tim Jung, publishing director of HOFFMANN UND CAMPE: “The book fair stands for the diversity and freedom of literature, and for the importance of reading. Despite the restrictions imposed by the Covid pandemic over the last two years, it remains the world’s most important forum for literature and its protagonists. At the same time, it’s a marketplace, a showcase, a stage and a setting for debates, which the fair has also reliably generated on its own.”
